The Department of Gastroenterology deals with the specialized treatment of various gastrointestinal illnesses including organs such as the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine, liver, pancreas, gall bladder and biliary tract. The Department conducts diagnostic endoscopy to diagnose diseases of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum and large intestine, and also conducts various functional tests such as endoscopic ultrasound, capsule endoscopy and enteroscopy. The Department also uses specialized therapeutic endoscopy to treat various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract such as early gastric cancer and colon polyps. In the field of the liver, the Department provides diagnosis and treatment for hepatitis B, C and liver cirrhosis, and in particular, the Department specializes in surgical and the latest non-surgical treatments for liver cancer and liver transplant. Also, for the pancreatic and biliary duct, we provide several state-of-the-art treatments for rare and difficult-to-treat diseases such as pancreatic cancer and cholangioma as well as relatively common illnesses such as pancreatitis and cholelithiasis.
