Emergency medicine is a medical specialty that provides first-line comprehensive treatment and management for patients who are in emergency situations such as acute disorders or injuries. The Department of Emergency Medicine plays a role in maintaining and stabilizing the patient’s condition until the patient receives ultimate treatment such as surgery. The main fields of emergency medicine include various medical and surgical emergencies as well as resuscitation medicine including CPR, resuscitation for severe trauma, intoxication, environmental emergencies, and disaster medicine.
