Along with surgery and chemotherapy, radiation therapy is one of the three major cancer treatments, and while approximately 30% of patients in Korea newly diagnosed with cancer are being treated with radiation therapy, the importance of this type of treatment is increasing due to the increase in the number of cancer patients. Radiation oncology is a clinical specialty that treats cancer using a linear accelerator that generates ionizing radiation and handles related works and treatment, and our Department of Radiation Oncology deals in research and education as well as treating uterine cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, head and neck cancers, liver cancer and brain cancer.
